Acceptance does not mean condoning or agreeing with what happened.
- Acceptance does not mean what happened should have happened.
- Acceptance does not mean having to forgive people, as in absolving someone of responsibility.
- Acceptance of your history means letting go of the struggle with memories, feelings, thoughts, or bodily sensations associated with your history.
Working all the time, trying to be perfect, isolating, hurting yourself, and keeping relationships superficial so that you won’t get hurt.
